My name is Jessica Kraker. I am a student in the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Baruch College, Class of 2018. I am double majoring in English Literature and History, with an honors minor in NYC Studies and a minor in Communications. I am currently a writer for the Opinions section of Baruch College’s newspaper The Ticker and a contributor to the Macaulay Honors College’s online literary magazine The 67th Street Scribe.
I have had work published in Baruch’s literary magazine Encounters and the Macaulay Photography Club’s magazine Perspectives. I interned with the DC Comics section of ComicsVerse in Fall 2016. Prior to this I was a contributor for Baruch’s branch of The Odyssey Online. I am also one half of the YouTube Channel Innominate Kraken, whose goal is to encourage people to go out and try new things.
In May 2016, my sister and I released our first documentary short film, Mental Health in New York, which can be found here and also on YouTube. Since it’s release, the film has won: 1st place in the Social Justice/Science Category at Baruch College’s Creative Inquiry; Official Selection (May 2016) Hollywood Boulevard Film Festival; Award of Achievement (Documentary Short May 2016) Hollywood Boulevard Film Festival; Official Selection (May 2016) Miami Independent Film Festival; Official Selection Katra Film Festival; Official Selection Adirondack Film Festival. In September 2016, I presented it on behalf of Baruch College at the International Conference for Undergraduate Research.
